I feel like Modular have identified and understood one of the key problems AI / ML teams struggle to contend with, which is infrastructure and integration. Whilst AI & ML progress is often driven in a largely academic fashion, there is usually some kind of hurdle to leap over before this progress can be productised in a wider context and made available to developers - and Modular seem to be positioning themselves well to facilitate this process. If they can get it right, they stand to be a major influence on the future of AI, imo!
